A 4-DAY INTENSIVE FOR ZOUK NERDS AND FUTURE TEACHERS
This four-day intensive is a deep dive into the technical core of Brazilian Zouk.
It is the natural continuation and incarnation of the Teacher Training course, designed for dancers who want to deeply understand how movement, connection, and mechanics truly work.
Across four days, you will explore advanced techniques, refined dynamics, and artistic integration with our Zouk Month Teachers. Each couple brings their own language, experience, and perspective, allowing you to build a broad and embodied understanding rather than a single-method approach.
This is not about collecting figures.
This is about understanding structure, intention, safety, and freedom at an advanced level.
WHO IS THIS INTENSIVE FOR?
This intensive is for experienced Zouk dancers who:
-
Love diving deep into technique and details
-
Enjoy refining precision, efficiency, and control
-
Want to understand the mechanics behind complex movements
-
Are curious about teaching or already assisting or teaching
-
Want to develop their own style with clarity and confidence
Level: Intermediate - Advanced
Strong fundamentals required. This is not an open-level course.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Across four days, we will explore and connect advanced technical and artistic concepts such as:
-
Axis control and advanced stepping
-
One-leg spins
-
Counterbalance and weight management
-
Complex head movement variations
-
Changing dynamics, elasticity, power, and intention
-
Efficiency, safety, and body organization at high levels of complexity
-
Musicality and flow
-
Expression and development of your own personal style
The first part of the intensive focuses more on technique and mechanics, while the later days expand into artistry, musicality, and integration.
DAILY SCHEDULE
4 hours per day
10:00 – 12:00 first block
12:00 – 12:30 break
12:30 – 14:30 second block
Total of 16 hours over 4 days
Timing may shift slightly depending on group flow.
HOW IS THE INTENSIVE STRUCTURED
Each day combines:
-
Clear technical explanations
-
Progressive exercises and drills
-
Partnered exploration
-
Space for questions, feedback, and integration
You will experience different teaching approaches, helping you develop a flexible and informed understanding rather than memorizing patterns.
WHAT WILL I WALK AWAY WITH
-
Deeper understanding of advanced Zouk mechanics
-
Better control, clarity, and confidence in complex movements
-
Stronger technical connection with any partner
-
Tools to analyze, refine, and self-correct your dancing
A broader perspective for teaching and sharing, if you choose that path
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Comfortable clothes, dance shoes or socks, water, and a notebook.
There will be a lot of valuable information to capture.
A CORE PART OF ZOUK MONTH
The Advanced Techniques Intensive is a key pillar of Zouk Month and a powerful training which concludes Zouk Month 2026.
If you love Zouk enough to nerd out on the details, this intensive is made for you.

TEACHERS AND DAILY FOCUS
DAY 1
Fernando and Olga
Advanced stepping in the regular rhythm, axis control with a straight upper body, one-leg spins, and counterbalance.
The focus is on precision, stability, and managing the axis with clarity and efficiency.
DAY 2
Brenda and William
Changing dynamics such as elasticity, power, and intention, combined with bended upper body techniques and advanced head movements.
Building on Day 1, we explore how dynamics and upper body flexibility interact with spins, counterbalance, and movement complexity.
DAY 3
Gui and Paloma
Sophisticated flow, musical structure, and refined technique.
Exploring how advanced mechanics translate into smooth, expressive, and musically rich dancing.
DAY 4
Brenda, William, Gui, and Paloma
Integration day.
Blending techniques, styles, and perspectives while supporting personal expression and individual interpretation.
