ABOUT THE INTENSIVES
This intensive is designed as a progressive journey for leaders and followers, combining solo technique, role-specific work, and shared partner practice. Throughout the three days, participants will develop body awareness, clarity in leading and following, comfort in close connection, and playful musical expression.
Structure: 3 days · 2 blocks per day · 2 hours per block
DAY 1 – BODY AWARENESS & FOUNDATIONS
First Block (2h)
The journey begins with leaders and followers dancing together during the first 30 minutes, creating a reference point that will allow everyone to clearly feel their personal progression at the end of the three days.
After this introduction, leaders and followers will work separately for 90 minutes, focusing on solo technique, body awareness, and posture. Special attention will be given to how each role uses the body as a tool for clear and comfortable communication.
Second Block (2h)
We come back together for shared solo work, exploring weight transfer and footwork (90 minutes), building a common physical language.
The day closes with 30 minutes of partner work, where leaders and followers integrate the material of the day together.
DAY 2 – LEADING, FOLLOWING & CLOSE EMBRACE
First Block (2h)
This block focuses on understanding how our body structure connects to the structure of our partner. Leaders and followers explore the specific techniques needed to create a clear, efficient, and comfortable connection.
After 90 minutes of role-specific work, leaders and followers come together for 30 minutes to integrate the concepts in partnered movement.
Second Block (2h)
We move into close embrace: how to enter it comfortably, how to maintain it, and how to move together with ease.
The work begins separately for leaders and followers, addressing role-specific needs, and then continues together, navigating all the key topics related to dancing in close connection.
This block also includes a Q&A session to collectively address common and important questions.
DAY 3 – PLAYFULNESS & MUSICALITY
First Block (2h)
The day starts with exercises that reconnect dancers to playfulness as a natural state in the dance, something much closer and more accessible than we often think.
From there, we enter the musicality block, exploring rhythm and musical structure, and how they inform movement choices.
Second Block (2h)
We dive deeper into musicality, discovering how rich and inspiring it can be. Participants explore multiple ways of letting the music influence and inspire their dance, both individually and in partnership.
The intensive concludes with 30 minutes of shared practice, allowing leaders and followers to integrate the full journey of the three days.
THE APPROACH
This intensive is designed around a role-specific learning format, guided by a team of highly experienced teachers.
Leaders and followers work separately with dedicated instructors. Leaders with Gui & Fernando, Followers with Brenda & Paloma. This allows each role to receive focused attention, detailed feedback, and teaching that is fully tailored to their needs and challenges.
By having two teachers per role, participants benefit from different perspectives, teaching styles, and bodies in the room, creating a richer and more supportive learning environment.
Throughout the intensive, leaders and followers are repeatedly brought back together. This ensures that all individual work is integrated into real partner connection, shared movement, and musical expression.
The result is a balanced learning experience where depth, clarity, and connection come together supported by a strong team and a shared vision.
